Professor Ifeoma Okoye, who is presently the African observer to the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) board is the President and Founder of Breast Without Spot Initiative. She is a Professor of Radiology and Head of Radiation Medicine, Department at the College Of Medicine, University Of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu Campus (UNNEC), and UNTH, Ituku Ozalla. She has been in medical practice for over 30 years and joined the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu (UNTH) 20 yrs ago as a Consultant Radiologist, after becoming a Fellow of The Nigerian Medical College of Radiologists, and Fellow of The West African College of Surgeons. Within the university and her profession, Prof. Okoye has held several prominent leadership positions including:

  • Member of the Faculty Board Of Radiology of the Nigerian Medical College of Radiologists (1991-till date)
  • Examiner at the Postgraduate College Of Nigeria (1995 till date)
  • Past Clinical Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Dentistry of the College Of Medicine, UNNEC.
  • Past President, Association of Radiologists of West Africa (April 2003 To April 2005)
  • Chair of Department of Radiology, UNTH, for five un-consecutive tenures
  • Past President Medical Women Association Of Nigeria, Anambra/Enugu State
  • Advancement Officer of the College Of Medicine.
  • Currently Supervisor of Master’s Program at UNNEC Postgraduate School
  • Chairman, UNTH Resource Foundation [URF)
  • Assistant Editor, West African Journal of Radiology (1990 to date),
  • Chief Editor of ‘Journal of Medical Sciences and Hospital Management’
  • Professor Okoye was a member delegate to the United Nations high level meeting on non-communicable diseases in September 2011 in New York. She is also a member of the “Men of African Descent and Carcinoma of the Prostate” (MADCaP) consortium – an African Prostate Cancer Research Working Group, Co-director of The Nigerian Bone Marrow Registry- the second of such registry in Africa), the African Coordinator of Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) from 2007 till date.

She is an ASHOKA fellow and a recipient of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative fellowship in recognition of her social entrepreneurship inovative work with AGCPN and is also a renowned scholar and researcher with over 60 scientific publications, sole and main contributory author of six books and has made over 50 presentations at conferences locally and internationally.

She is a renowned social change maker and Innovator, founder and chairman of the Association for Good Clinical Practice in Nigeria [AGCPN], International Cancer Week (ICW) and All Youths Against Cancer (AYAC)Prof. Okoye is a ‘motivational Speaker’ on Wellness, healthy living, fitness, Cancer, NCDs, Marriage, Aging Gracefully and Youth Empowerment. She is involved in several Humanitarian Community and Social works on the cause of improving health/social care delivery to the populace and has received several honours and awards from Rotary, Medical Women’s Associations, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists and Religious Organizations.

Her hobbies include Writing, reading, music, singing and dancing.

Miss Oluwafunmilola James is the National Project Manger of Breast Without Spot Initiative (BWS) in Nigeria and for five years has doubled as the State Coordinator of the BWS in Lagos State, the commercial Capital of Nigeria. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP No-1752745). She has a BSc in Biochemistry and MSc in Public Health in which she graduated with the highest GPA in the MScPH (General Public Health) class from the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Lagos in 2010. Ms James has since been involved with various public health researches aimed at controlling cancer and has a bias for scientific research aimed at behavioural change control for risk factors of cancer in Nigeria and Africa.

She is has had numerous local and international trainings in the field of cancer and non-communicable diseases control, is a member of the African Cancer Advocates Consortium (ACAC), Project Management Institute (PMI ID No-3050466), a past recipient of scholarship from the University of Oxford, UK and the only Nigerian delegate selected to attend the first Young Cancer Leaders Initiative (YCLI) of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) at the World Cancer Leaders Summit in November 2013. Ms James is a passionate cancer and NCDs control advocate and a firm believer in ‘adequate health for all’. She has been guest speaker at numerous trainings and workshops, including the International Cancer Week in Abuja and Non-Communicable Diseases Courses in Oxford, UK. Ms James is a natural-born leader and team player who has for four consecutive years successfully coordinated the annual World Cancer Day youth jamboree, one of the initiatives of ‘All youth Against Cancer Initiative’ of BWS. She also coordinates the activities of over 1,000 youth corpers under the Breast Without Spot Initiative annually and is a recipient of numerous awards including Best Project Student and Leadership Excellence awards from the Trinity Leadership School, Lagos, Nigeria.

Her hobbies include meeting people, reading, writing, travelling and teaching.

Mr Obinna Olejeme has been the Coordinator of BWS in the Eastern States of Nigeria including Imo, Anambra, Abia Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom since 2008. He has a first degree in Agricultural science and is a passionate cancer control advocate. As the coordinator of BWS in the aforementioned states, he is personally responsible for training volunteers from the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in all the orientation camps  in the states as cancer control advocates annually.  Mr Olejeme has worked with various teams including the Anambra State Association USA free medical mission from 2010- 2011.
